How is Bighound different from the paid services?
Where we’re different
Section titled “Where we’re different”We give away the DIY. Every opt-out we point at is free and we show you exactly how. The market norm is to blur those instructions until you subscribe.
We tell you when a removal route is a trap. When a broker’s opt-out redirects into its own paid product, or a “removal service” is connected to brokers by ownership, we say so with a citation and a date. See removal services that aren’t.
We publish what we can’t do. The dashboard shows how many sites block us. Nobody else counts that in public, because it looks like a weakness rather than a measurement.
Two-factor is mandatory. Not offered — required, with recovery codes. Several paid competitors leave it off by default on accounts holding the same kind of data.
Deletion means deleted. No soft-delete flag, no archive. Our tests fail the build if any row survives.
We ask for less. Birth year, not full date of birth. No SSN, ever. See what we refuse to store.
Where they beat us
Section titled “Where they beat us”Being straight about this, since the whole point is not overclaiming:
- Coverage. They hold forms for far more brokers than our verified registry does.
- They submit for you. If you want removals to happen without your involvement, a paid service does that and we don’t — for reasons, but the difference is real.
- Support. They have staffed support desks. We have a contact form and one person reading it.
If hands-off removal at scale is what you want, a paid service is a reasonable choice. Just check who owns it first.
