How do I delete my account?

Account page → Delete your account. You’ll need your password, a second factor, and to type the phrase delete my account.

What actually happens

Every row belonging to you is deleted: your household, every finding, every scan, your DROP references, your notification subscriptions, your recovery codes, and the account itself.

Deleted, not flagged. There is no is_deleted column, no thirty-day grace period, no archived copy. A “deleted” account whose data is still on disk is precisely the behaviour this product exists to complain about, so we don’t do it. Our own test suite walks every table and fails the build if a single row survives.

What deletion does not do

It does not undo opt-outs you’ve already filed. Those requests went from you to the brokers directly; Bighound was never in that loop and can’t reach into it.

It does not remove you from any broker. Deleting Bighound deletes Bighound’s copy. The brokers keep theirs.

It does not withdraw a DROP request. That’s between you and the California Privacy Protection Agency.

Finish your list first

Afterwards you’ll have no record of which listings were up, which you’d already submitted, or which had come back. If you’re mid-way through a worklist, work it before you delete.

Signing out everywhere instead

If the actual worry is a device you no longer control, you don’t need deletion — Signed-in devices → Sign out other devices ends every session but the one you’re using.
